What this tool can tell you

It suggests a storage approach and filters a small source-checked list. Missing specifications mean compatibility is unconfirmed, even when a product is shown. A result is not a product recommendation or structural approval.

Follow your board maker's care instructions for pressure, deflating, drying and storage temperature; they differ by board.
Fix racks and hoists only as the maker says, into a wall or joist that can take the stated load.

Before you measure

Record your exact board model and read its manual. Measure the longest board and the widest board if you own several; use the heaviest board's weight for the conservative load calculation. Measure the clear space after allowing for doors, handles, pipes and the route used to move the board.

The chooser treats missing information as unknown. A product appearing in the results does not establish a match. Its capacity, load rating, support spacing, thickness clearance, assembled footprint and board compatibility may still need confirmation from the maker.

For packed inflatable storage, the full-board measurements do not represent the packed bag. Measure the actual bag separately and follow the board maker's packing instructions. The tool does not estimate a folded size.

The checks behind the result

  • Full board length and width must not exceed the clear space entered.
  • Known capacity must cover the number of boards.
  • When published, load must cover board count × heaviest board weight.
  • Known rack footprint must fit the available space; missing values remain unconfirmed.
  • Mounting permission filters fixed racks. It does not establish load-bearing strength.

Worked example

A 3,200 mm long hard board with a width of 800 mm and weight of 12 kg, in a garage space measuring 2,800 × 1,000 mm, fails the simple length check: 3,200 > 2,800. The same engine used above returns full board exceeds the space, with 0 products shown. Find a longer clear space before considering a rack.

Maker data in this chooser

We haven't tested these products. Dimensions, load ratings, materials and features are as the manufacturer states them (checked 25 October 2026).

Unknown is deliberate. We do not convert rack-arm dimensions into a maximum board size, or packaging dimensions into an assembled footprint.

Care by maker

Red Paddle Co

  • Red says to store its board in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, either rolled in the bag or inflated.
  • Red says to rinse the board and equipment in fresh water and let everything dry completely before packing.
  • For a long period rolled up, Red says to loosen the roll so the strap does not press into the board, particularly near the fin box.
  • If kept inflated for a while without use, Red says to reduce pressure below 15 psi. This is Red's storage advice, not an inflation target for other boards.
  • For inflated storage, Red recommends a flat surface or upright position and advises against a rack for a long duration.

Gladiator

  • Gladiator's guide permits inflated or deflated winter storage; if inflated, it recommends releasing a few psi in case the storage area warms up.
  • Before rolling and storing, Gladiator says to wash with fresh water and air dry or wipe completely dry, and suggests removing fins for winter.
  • The guide gives 4–40°C as its board storage range and recommends a loose roll or unrolled storage when deflated. Check the guide for your exact model.
