Keep SUP accessories clean, dry, easy to find and protected from damage between outings. Red’s FAQ advises rinsing board, bag, paddle, pump and leash, then drying fully. Its maintenance page notes that fin systems vary by board.

Work through the practical choices

Rinse salt, sand and dirt from accessories where the maker recommends it. Separate pieces so water does not remain inside bags, sleeves or joints. Let everything dry fully before storage. Keep paddle shafts away from places where they can be bent or stepped on; avoid kinking pump hoses or loading small fittings under heavier gear.

Give fins, screws, valve tools and repair items a labelled container. Keep the leash untangled and away from sharp hooks. Check blades, shafts, hose, cord and fittings for visible damage before putting them away. Follow the correct maker’s instructions for cleaning or repair; do not modify parts based on generic advice. A shelf or ventilated tote keeps kit off damp floors and easy to check.

Give every detachable part a home

Use a small container for fins and their matching screws or pins, and keep it near the board bag without pressing hard parts into the board. Follow your paddle maker’s instructions for separating and cleaning sections; do not force a stuck connection. Keep a note of the exact fin or connector type if you need a replacement.

Check the pump hose, gauge and connectors before storage and again before your next trip. Do not leave wet accessories hidden in a closed pocket. A labelled checklist on your own storage container can help you notice a missing fin or fitting before you leave home.
